FRONT DESK

Location: Vertical World Seattle 

Hours: Part Time, Must Work Weekends 

Reports to: Gym Manager/Assistant Manager

Compensation: $20 – $22 hourly 

The front desk sets the tone of the customer experience at Vertical World Climbing Gyms. It is the goal of the front desk employee to make everyone that walks through the door feel at home and comfortable. This outstanding customer service must be paired with unwavering customer qualification and risk management. Blending those three entities is the core value and measure of success of a front desk worker. Along with these principles a front desk employee should be a flexible, energetic individual, who thrives in an active work environment and is willing to get any job done.  

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Customer interactions 
  • Communicating policies, procedure, safety requirements and enforcing all gym policies 
  • Providing in depth customer tours of facility 
  • Customer qualification 
  • Belay checks  
  • Lead checks 
  • Provide activity specific orientations based on customer experience/qualifications
  • Risk management and floor supervision 
  • In depth knowledge of gym offerings 
  • Cleanliness of facility 
  • Including but not limited to mats, equipment, surfaces, retail, etc. 
  • Maintain climbing equipment such as ropes, route, tags, holds. 
  • Providing general instruction of climbing and climbing equipment in a fun and informative fashion 
  • Restocking retail area 
  • Assist in groups, events, and youth programs 

Requirements 

  • Friendly and enthusiastic 
  • Self-motivated and able to act independently   
  • Previous customer service and sales experience 
  • Great communication skills and the ability to work with a wide range of personalities 
  • Ability to deal with difficult circumstances with a positive attitude  
  • Great working ability in a family environment 
  • Must be a competent experience climber

GROUPS COORDINATOR

Vertical World has a longstanding legacy of producing the highest quality youth programs in the region and has the reputation of being an industry leader in the category Nationwide. The Groups Coordinator is responsible for upholding this reputation and the success of the groups department of a Vertical World location.  

Location: Vertical World Seattle 

Hours: 8-12 hrs per week (Part Time) 

Reports to: Director of Groups and Gym Manager 

Compensation: $22 – $25 hourly 

This position alone is part time but may be combined with other positions to make a full-time position. This job description is not necessarily an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, skills, requirements, efforts, or working conditions associated with the job. Responsibilities: 

  • Finalizing and coordinating logistics for all groups 
  • Manage/audit invoices and payments for groups 
  • Scheduling groups staff for all events 
  • Checking and responding to all emails and communications pertinent to groups
  • Training new groups staff 
  • Checking in on group staff performance and shadowing groups intermittently  
  • Uphold requirements of group staff attendance and performance 
  • Manage group staff membership statuses  
  • Work with VW office to manage insurance and contractual needs of certain groups 
  • Present updates on all aspects of groups to staff at staff meetings, or whenever necessary 
  • Work front desk or other duties outside of core responsibilities

  • Must be flexible with schedule availability within the hourly commitment based on business needs, including possible evenings and weekends.  
  • This position requires the coordinator to be physically present in the gym 
  • Must be able to reliably commute to any VW location 
  • An active interest in climbing and community engagement.

YOGA INSTRUCTOR SUBSTITUTE

Vertical World Yoga instructors are integral to our facilities, enriching our dynamic atmosphere by fostering a symbiotic relationship between climbing and yoga, which offers a remarkable balance of movement, mobility, and strength. They cater to a wide range of climbers and yogis at every skill level, enhancing physical fitness and promoting mental well-being. This commitment ensures that Vertical World remains a welcoming space of vitality and health for all who walk through its doors.

Location: Vertical World Seattle
Reports: Manager/Yoga Coordinator
Hours: Part time per class, flexibility required

Compensation: $40 per class with students, $20 per class without students

Responsibilities:

  • Be punctual; early is on time. Please arrive 5-10 mins early to clock in and set up your space
  • Take accurate notes of each class
  • Plan classes for a balance of safety, technical skill, and a wide range of abilities
  • Demonstrate the poses/techniques/modifications, etc.
  • Keeping to the “style” of the class expected by the students
  • Curate music for each class that fits the pace and vibe of the class (keeping words to a minimum)
  • Help to keep the yoga space neat and orderly e.g., wipe down props/return to their designated space
  • Dry mop before each class

Teaching:

  • Follow VW policies, procedures, safety requirements, and enforce all yoga related gym policies
  • Provide a consistent and safe space for all to practice
  • Awareness of proper body mechanics to prevent injury
  • Offer verbal alignment and modification cues during a class. VW does not offer physical (hands-on) adjustments and/or modifications at our gym

Requirements: 

  • Have completed a 200-hr YTT
  • Physically capable of practicing what you teach
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Complete onboarding
  • Able to dependably commute to work
